Broadway returns to Main Street on Jan. 6

The Island Now

Broadway on Main Street returns to Landmark’s Jeanne Rimsky Theater on Saturday, Jan. 6 at 8 p.m.

While the format will be familiar, there will be a new crop of talented performers — Broadway’s finest vocalists recreating signature musical moments from their long-running roles in Broadway and Off-Broadway musicals.

The performers will also share backstage stories and take questions from the audience.

Producer and resident Broadway maven Stephen Deangelis says, “I am so excited to continue to bring some of Broadway’s finest performers to create a special intimate experience which allows them to connect with the Landmark audience in such a unique and personal way.”

Where else can you find a cast with a veritable encyclopedia of credits that include Broadway, Off-Broadway, regional and national touring productions?

The talented lineup includes:

Rick Faugno, who was recently featured on PBS in “Show Boat” at Lincoln Center. He has also appeared on Broadway in “On the Twentieth Century,” for which he won a Fred Astaire award, as Frankie Valli in “Jersey Boys,” in “American Dance Machine” at the Joyce Theater, and as a soloist for “The Gershwin Experience” with the Wichita and Phoenix symphonies.

Rona Figueroa has an impressive list of Broadway credits including “Miss Saigon” as Kim, “Les Miserables” playing both Fantine and Eponine, “Nine,” “Lennon,” and “Les Miserables Revival” as Fantinel.  Her regional theatre productions include “The King and I,” “Rent,” “The Boys From Syracuse,” “Jesus Christ Superstar,” and “We Will Rock You.”

Jenn Gambastese most recently starred as Principal Rosalie Mullins in “School of Rock” on Broadway.  She originated the Broadway roles of Jane in Disney’s “Tarzan,” Natalie in “All Shook Up” (Outer Critics Circle nomination) and Marie in “Is He Dead,” in addition to appearing in “Hairspray,” “A Year with Frog and Toad,” “Footloose,” “Wicked,” “The Sound of Music” and “Carousel.”

Lisa Howard returns to Broadway this spring, starring as Tammy in the Jimmy Buffet musical “Escape to Margaritaville.” She most recently appeared on Broadway as Jenny in “It Shoulda Been You” (2015 Drama Desk Award and Drama League Awards nominee). Her other Broadway credits include “Priscilla Queen of the Desert,” “9 to 5 The Musical,” “South Pacific” and “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” (Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Ensemble).

Mykal Kilgore has recently returned to New York City after starring as Judas in the critically-acclaimed production of “Jesus Christ Superstar” at the Paramount Theatre in Chicago. On Broadway, his voice can be heard nightly in “Dear Evan Hansen.” Other Broadway credits include “Motown the Musical” and “Hair,” as well as appearing in national tours of “The Book of Mormon” and “Marley.”

In addition to these seasoned performers, the show’s musical director and accompanist, Wendy Bobbit Cavett, has worked on and Off-Broadway in “Hamilton,” Come From Away,” “Mamma Mia!,” “The Scarlet Pimpernel,” “A Year with Frog and Toad,” “The Most Happy Fella,” and “A Tale of Two Cities.” She also holds the distinction of being the first female conductor of “Hamilton,” and is on the theatre faculty of Wagner College in Staten Island.
