Bosworth stands tall on issues

The Island Now

Election Day, Nov. 8, is now just 10 days away. Our county legislator (LD 10) has been a leading voice on the Issues that directly affect us.

Nassau Coliseum paid for by us with free ride for Mr. Wang: Judi led county Democrats in trying to persuade the Republican majority that this was not a good deal for residents and taxpayers. Judi is for jobs, development and revitalization of our county.

But Judi is also for fairness in sharing the cost; complete transparency about costs, details, protections against overruns and for a day when most voters can come out not a Monday in August. Result? Voters rejected the plan 57 percent to 43 percent countywide and 75 percent to 25 percent in LD 10. Also, it was soundly defeated in 18 of 19 legislative districts.

Republican plan to redistrict Nassau County: Split Great Neck in half and rush to Implement in 2011.

Once again, Judi and the Democrats tried debate, discussion with the Republican majority that it was both illegal to do this ahead of the state in 2013 and that splitting Great Neck would not result in better representation for residents. Republicans would not listen so Democrats were forced to seek remedy from the courts. Result? The state Court of Appeals voted 7- 0 in favor of the Democratic position. This is just not victory; this is repudiation of the way the Republican majority wants to conduct business in our Legislature. And, four of these judges were Republicans.

Judi is still trying to get the county executive’s decision to privatize L.I. Bus reversed or delayed so there can be more public debate.

Judi delivers services by fighting for local projects: Have you seen the restoration of Udall’s Pond going on?

Judi found this project on the ‘books’ when she first came into the Legislature and worked tirelessly to get it approved.

Another example of Judi’s determination and tireless effort: Very soon we will see work begin on the Middle Neck Road Drainage Project, a long awaited fix to continual flooding to all buildings on Middle Neck Road from the CVS (across from Baker Hill Road) to the corner of Old Mill Road where Temple Beth El is located.

Let’s get out and vote for Judi Bosworth on Tuesday, Nov. 8. Thank you.
