The Lincoln Memorial was vandalized this weekend and sprayed with green paint at Lincoln’s base and floor. The statue depicts what President Lincoln was all about and that he was a man of the people.
Therefore this is a most egregious act that I find most appalling by perpetrators unknown. I further feel this act was a most sinister conspiracy that was perpetrated to undermine race relations in America.
This I believe was done as an attack upon President Obama because of his stance on race relations and that he has spoken about the fact that President Lincoln, our 16th president who he most admired, was his favorite.
Now President Abraham Lincoln had issued the Emancipation Proclamation to free our fellow American brothers and add greater meaning to the Declaration of Independence, which stated,” We hold these truths to be self-evident that all men are created equal.”
In the end defacing the memory of President Lincoln is defacing all he stood for and he stood for the freedom of all people. In closing I feel that using green paint is symbolic of greed and envy. This I feel is an attempt cover up inferior feelings and try to deny the rights of all Americans who are only trying to achieve the American dream and only want to be respected.
So shame on these bigots.
