Second-grade explorers from Garden City Park School in the New Hyde Park-Garden City Park School District tested animal adaptations with an experiment called “Which Beak is Best!” The students tested different bird beaks to evaluate how well they serve each bird. The explorers used tweezers to replicate a Hummingbirds beak, a clothes pin to replicate a hawks beak and a spoon to replicate a pelicans beak. They then used our engineering design process and inquiry to observe and make conclusions on what they saw.
