Author Gordan Korman Visits with Willets Road Students

The Island Now

As a kick-off to Willets Road School’s cultural arts program, children’s and young adult fiction author, Gordon Korman, had an exciting visit with students. Mr. Korman has written over eighty books, and sold more than 28 million over a career spanning three decades. He has appeared at number one on The New York Times Best Seller list and some of his most popular pieces are Restart, Slacker and This Can’t Be Happening at Macdonald Hall.

During his presentation, Mr. Korman shared how he wrote his first book, This Can’t Be Happening at Macdonald Hall, at the age of twelve and how his passion for writing began with school projects, which then evolved into a hobby, and finally into his profession. He also discussed different strategies students can use to overcome writer’s block, and he even introduced and gave students a sneak peak into his upcoming book, Whats His Face!
