Art Guild to hold juried art contest

The Island Now

The Art Guild invites all artists to submit artworks for consideration for “Travels and Destinations: Near and Far” a Juried Competition and Exhibition on view March 5 – April 3. Show us where you’ve been — near, far and far-out! Landscapes, still lifes and figurative images tell the story of our travels both real and imagined. Where have YOU been? Montauk, Maine or Mexico? We can’t wait to see your travelogue.

The Juror-of-Awards is Paul David Elsen. Mr. Elsen went to The High School of Art & Design where he studied drawing and painting under the late Irwin “Greeny” Greenberg and the noted portrait painter and illustrator Max Ginsburg. In 2009, after a number of career moves unrelated to art, he turned his attentions back to painting and drawing. He has since studied with artists as diverse as Paul Bachem, Howard Rose, Marc Josloff, and Rob Silverman. He has exhibited extensively on Long Island – from the Huntington Arts Council and the National Art League, to solo exhibits in various libraries.

All artists, 18 years and older (high school students ages 14-18 years may enter in the student category), are invited to submit up to three artworks for consideration. The deadline for submissions is midnight February 13, 2016. For more information, registration form, or to register on line, please visit The Art Guild’s website at www.TheArtGuild.org.

The exhibit will be on view at The Art Guild’s home at Elderfields Preserve at 200 Port Washington Blvd. in Manhasset,  from Saturday, March 5 through Sunday, April 3.
