Art Guild to open photo show Saturday

The Art Guild invites the public to view “From My Perspective,” a juried photography competition and exhibition, from Saturday, Feb. 4 through Sunday, Feb. 26.

Gallery hours are Saturdays and Sundays from 1 to 5 p.m. or by appointment.

An artists’ reception and awards ceremony will be held on Saturday, Feb. 4 from 3 to 5 p.m. at The Art Guild’s home, Elderfields Preserve, located at 200 Port Washington Blvd. in Manhasset.

The exhibit features 62 photographs by 60 photographers (including 22 high school students) chosen from over 230 images.

The photographers, from all across Long Island, bring a wide variety of photographic styles and interpretations of the theme.

The juror of awards for this show will be John Bruno.

Bruno is a passionate devotee of the genre for over 37 years with a diverse background.

A photographer for the New York Giants, New York Mets, New York Islanders, and the New York Racing Association, he enjoys producing unconventional images rich in color and as far from a “structured” photographic environment as possible.

Currently, Bruno serves as Program Chairman for the Great Neck Camera Club and is a member of the Photo Artists’ Network.

He is also a past President of the Port Washington Camera Club and past vice president of the Photographic Federation of L.I.

Classes for children, high school students and adults run year-round, and include Landscape Painting for Beginners and Intermediates, Watercolor for Beginners or Intermediates, The Still Life in Oil, and Advanced Studio for High School Students (beginning Feb. 9).

Sip & Sketch, a non-instructional drawing session with a live model, meets on the second Thursday evening of every month.

A workshop, Watercolor with Joyce Hicks, is scheduled for June 22-25.
