Yes, it went that way towards the Throgs Neck Bridge.

No kidding. Yep, they’re back. Or, it’s back. A Humpback was spotted off Westport, Conn. at the end of last month and then spotted again further west the beginning of August.

This past week one was spotted right here in the Western Sound. A

nd around noon this past Saturday, the Coast Guard reported a sighting near the Throgs Neck Bridge.

These are big fish (mammals) weighing up to 80,000 pounds.

Clean water and an abundance of menhaden (moss bunker) have not only attracted the Humpbacks but also Beluga Whales and Dolphins.

Needless to say, please keep your distance if you happen to sight any.

There have been reports of big Fluke in the Western Sound.

I have not heard of any close to 80,000 pounds but Blaise from Duffy’s Bait and tackle in Glen Head reported Fluke up to 7.75 pounds with many 3-4 pounds flatties been caught also.

He also reported that big blue fish have been caught in the 40’-50’ of water, plenty of Porgies and lots of Snappers.

Johnny Thompson of Atlantic Outfitters in Port Washington reported excellent Fluke fishing with Porgies at all the points and Snappers in all the shallows.

Morris at East Coast Fishing in Little Neck reported large numbers of Cocktail Blues feeding on the Bunker from Little Neck to Douglaston Bay.

Remember: Always practice safety when of the water
