American flags will once again fly along Plandome Road as veterans march in Manhasset’s annual Memorial Day parade.

That’s because the Manhasset’s American Legion Post 304 has received a $2,000 grant for the purchase of the flags through state Assemblywoman Michelle Schimel’s office.

“American flags will be proudly waving from the lampposts all along Plandome Road,” said Schimel, a Democrat from Great Neck, in a statement. “I am pleased that we were able to assist commander Matthew Falcone and the post with their goal of beautifying Plandome Road.”

Falcone told the Manhasset Times he expects the flags would be installed a week or two prior to Memorial Day.

“Michelle is very good to the veterans of Nassau County. She is dedicated and never stops working. Thanks to her efforts we will have flags placed along Plandome Road,” Falcone said in a statement.

Memorial Day services are held the last Monday of May. This year, Memorial Day is May 25.
