Students in Garden City Park, Hillside Grade, Manor Oaks and New Hyde Park Road schools in the New Hyde Park-Garden City Park School District are enjoying YMCA after-school programs this year.

The program, which runs Monday through Friday, from 3-6:30 p.m., offers a wide-ranging curriculum for the students enrolled. Upon arrival each day, students are given an opportunity to complete their homework. If assistance is needed, staff members lend a hand. Toni Anas, the YMCA site director at Garden City Park School said students participate in art, literacy, character development and fun Friday activities as part of the program’s curriculum. They also create freestyle art projects, are exposed to different genres of music, read books and have an opportunity to socialize with peers and in some cases, family members.
