Abortion rights a black mark

The Island Now

Jan. 22 was the  anniversary of  Roe v. Wade, a decision that made abortion legal, and since 1973 there have been over 50 million abortions.

It truly amazes me that such a decision came about by the Supreme Court who are not elected by the people.

Let me also point out that the Declaration of Independence states  we are endowed by our creator with certain unalienable rights which are life , liberty and the pursuit of happiness. I guess the unborn has no such rights.

It has troubled me after all these years that taking of a life is what America is all about if it is condoned by the Supreme Court.

Added to that a  decision this important should have been voted upon by the people. Now as for myself I am a Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus and believe in the sanctity of human life.

After 40 years the debate continues as more lives are lost and this I find very sad indeed.
