Heights School first grade teacher Heather Wick and paraprofessional Theresa Eccher brought their class to Sunharbor Manor on November 6, to celebrate Veterans Day with the residents.

The students worked with music teacher Jessica Thorn to perform a song in honor of the veterans.

The students then read to their new friends from Sunharbor Manor and shared all that they learned about American symbols as part of their Social Studies curriculum.  Next the students made a flag craft with and for their new friends.

They ended the day with a patriotic sing along, where everyone joined in singing “Grand Old Flag,” “Yankee Doodle,” and “This Land Is Your Land.” It was a meaningful, multigenerational learning experience for all.
