Nine Herricks performing groups districtwide participated in the Annual NYSSMA Major Organization Festival at Hofstra University from May 20-22.
Herricks groups were evaluated by adjudicators and all received the highest ratings!
Center Street Orchestra (Michelina Cerbone)- Gold
Denton Avenue Band (Mark Bligh)- Gold with Distinction
Searingtown Fifth Grade Chorus (Erica Purrone)- Gold
Herricks Middle School Chamber Orchestra (Krista Weis)- Gold with Distinction
Herricks High School Ninth Grade Band (Scott Stickley)- Gold
Herricks High School Wind Ensemble (Scott Stickley)- Gold
Herricks High School Mixed Chorus (Louise O’Hanlon)- Silver
Herricks HIgh School Chamber Choir (Louise O’Hanlon)- Gold with Distinction
Herricks HIgh School Chamber Orchestra (Robin Maddox) Gold with Distinction
Each group prepared three pieces and was evaluated by expert adjudicators who are accomplished music educators from throughout New York State. The adjudicators were extremely impressed with what they heard. Students exhibited professionalism and expert musical ability well beyond their years.
