2021 Manhasset Bay Sportsman’s Club Snapper Derby

The Island Now

On Saturday, Aug. 21 the Manhasset Bay Sportsman’s Club held the annual Richard Peneski Sr. Snapper Derby.

All in attendance enjoyed a beautiful morning on Manhasset Bay at the Port Washington Town Dock. The Snappers were biting after Joseph Guidice used the magic fish attractant and many kids caught fish.

Thomas Costa had the first fish for the boys and Molly Plunkett had the first catch for the girls and were awarded generous prizes. Emmett Walsh, Carl Stevens, Louis Tesio Jr., Annabell Clemente and Sean Doherty all registered some nice fish! Molly Plunkett registered the most Snappers caught with 3.

All the kids really enjoyed fishing off the dock with their family and friends. MBSC provided rods, bait, snacks and drinks that were enjoyed by everybody. Boys and Girls 16 and under received raffle prizes and each participant received an MBSC water bottle.

The Manhasset Bay Sportsman’s Club would like to thank the Town of North Hempstead and Duffy’s Bait and Tackle for their contributions and assistance and all the members who assisted with the derby.
